Build
Production
Much like modern manufacturing techniques used in the automotive industry, Formas buildings are constructed in a customised factory. Produced in two manufacturing facilities in Southern China on enclosed factory floor areas of 40,000sqm, the Formas ALTOs and ERGOs are built through a structured assembly process consisting of:
- Steel preparation
- Steel sub-assembly
- Structure assembly
- Paint preparation
- Painting and drying booth
- Quality control
The units then migrate to a fit-out area where they begin to take on their final shape. Floors, walls, ceilings, electrical, plumbing, insulation, bathrooms and kitchens are fitted with a final QC check being completed before the units are made ready for shipping.
Utilising either a “fold-out” or “slide-out” patented system that is compliant with international shipping standards, Formas buildings are then shipped and transported worldwide.
This process ensures dramatic reductions in home building costs and waiting.
Compliance
Although transportable, Formas buildings are not temporary structures. They come with an independent producer statement certifying their structural performance.
Manufactured to meet the Australian building code, Formas buildings are not only fully Australian compliant and warranted – they also surpass the code in many areas.
Each Formas ALTO and ERGO is specially built using low-maintenance and long-lasting materials, designed to cope with the most extreme conditions worldwide. They are cyclone rated for tropical and semi-tropical climates, and are safe even for a severe cyclonic region (Region D, TC2).
Formas has received Thermal Efficiency Compliance for the Formas ALTO and ERGO. This is in accordance with NatHERS and BCA protocols, using an Alternative Verification Method (based on a 5 Star stated value) for Climate Zones 1 to 6.
Formas ALTOs and ERGOs have been rigorously inspected by Australian building authorities.
Compliance has been achieved with the following:
- The Building Code of Australia (Class 1, 1B and 2).
- Relevant Australian electrical and plumbing acts, codes and standards
- Requirements for Severe Tropical Cyclones for all Regions and Terrain Categories
- Relevant structural requirements, codes and standards
- Relevant local shire requirements and guidelines
- FESA requirements
